"I think it's dependent on the job and department. For faculty, they give maternity leave through short term disability which is amazing. I think it's a lot harder when it comes to when kids get sick, there isnt a great system."

"Look closely at your boss and the teams around you before you hire on. And don't take a lower pay than you deserve. Raises are minimal at best and promotions from within are hard to come by and only allow a 10% increase max. Your hiring time is the only time you will get to negotiate your pay -- ask for more and don't settle for a pay cut or even mediocre pay. You won't have another opportunity to grow your earning potential."

"It varies widely across the divisions -- for example, the Institution has a policy allowing telecommuting and flexible work schedules, but my division is stopping that practice and won't allow it even when the work supports it. Interestingly enough, working on nights and weekends is required for some staff."

"Considering 80% of the workforce is female - very few women in leadership roles, and antiquated benefits supporting women and working moms."

"There have been a lot of changes at CCHMC which has put many on edge and I feel managers feel pressured to perform so they have not been as flexible and/or understanding to employee needs"
