"I'm in an administrative role and am reviewing based on that experience. I have a great manager who is very empathetic which allows me more flexibility than what some may have in other departments or under different management. It is a public institution and while compensation appears to be generally on par with others in the west region, salary varies widely among folks with similar work and it is about 20% below what private industry pays for someone in my position with my experience particularly for the hours really required to do the job well. I love my office and co-workers like a small family but the other politics that exist at the institution can be very wearing. They are trying to improve culture but it will take longer than I am able to ride it out given budget cuts and additional work since the pandemic. "

"The people there are amazing, but the wages are slow to rise. You can easily get pigeon holed into a lower position."
