"1. Whether you are in a county office or working for Iowa State University in the Extension program, it is not a family friendly place. 2. Save all your emails; you'll need them to defend yourself. 3. Be prepared to beg people to come to ISU Extension and Outreach programs, and 4. Be prepared to ask the community for money to help support just about anything Extension does and no matter how much money you bring in, you will not earn a living wage working on most county offices."

"Personnel in the county offices consists of mostly women. Council members are strongly influenced by Regional Directors. You may be talked about, not appreciated, and not respected as a person."

"It depends on which county office you're employed in. Each county has nine elected Council member. There is one Regional Director employed by ISU assigned to manage employees. Neither Council nor Director are in the office, so there's a lack of leadership as well as a lack of training. This is most visible in the 4-H program and general office practices."
