"The line managers are typically male and there seems to be something of a macho culture at that level. There is a definite sense that the female managers are minimized by their colleagues. There is no clear path to promotion. However, people do get promoted. Unfortunately it is not always clear why some people are promoted and others are not. These promotions are not announced or explained. Each team has its own culture - and the level of flexibility allowed varies dramatically between teams. "
