"Most of my coworkers when I was there were women-- build relationships with them, advocate for yourselves and each other. Hold your manager accountable for how she treats you and your coworkers.
I was furloughed during COVID and never told. Management never reached out to me, I never heard from them again, I was just taken off the schedule. I wasn't the only one this happened to, and one of the people furloughed had been there for a very long time. I heard from an ex-coworker later on that the manager had said something about the "mean ones not coming back".
Also, ask your coworkers for help if you need it, because you get little to no training."

"Actual hours I was scheduled for were flexible, but closing shift could run very late and management knew this rarely helped (so I knew if I was scheduled for a closing shift I had to block off the whole night because I wasn't sure how long I was going to be there)."
