"I'm reviewing my unit -- Hopkins varies tremendously from area to area. It can be the best or worst place in the world to work. It's very decentralized and the culture is only as good as the particular area makes it. I'm in IT and it's been wonderful. I know that people in other areas are not so lucky. Make sure you get a sense of the culture in the immediate group you're considering joining."

"They have decent benefits, it is still an old boys club and old white men run practically everything. If you are saavy and know what you want out of a job this is a good place to start. Expect to be overworked and likely underpaid, but you will definitely come out of it with a great network and some better paying opportunities. Not the easiest place to grow within, HR will try their hardest to pay you the least possible and you may need to appeal some of their decisions to get a deserving salary. I've heard it is a great place to retire from though if you're in a good spot."
