"L'Oreal is a leader in the beauty world and has the resources to show for it: R&I, Training, People, and budgets. You can learn a tremendous amount about the industry while being surrounded by SMART people. What unfortunately also makes the company tick is it's very engrained culture: hierarchical, progress through confrontation (often difficult), and a focus on resilience rather than fostering trust/empowerment. It's how L'Oreal has done business for years and if you can take away your experience with your eyes wide open about how it's respecting or not respecting your values, you can get some fantastic experience. What I will also add is that L'Oreal is a great resume builder but also there are a number of companies that will NOT hire people from L'Oreal because of the reputation. "

"Make sure you negotiate your salary coming in. Even if you got what you were hoping for, ask for more. The raises are small, the chances of promotion are slim, and if you take a lateral move, you will not get a raise. However, a male making a lateral move will get a raise. So please, demand more. "

"It depends on your manager and how you are perceived. Some will let you work from home as often as needed. Some will make it look like they are doing you a HUGE favor by letting you work through lunch to leave 20 minutes early for a doctor's appointment. "

"My manager acts like a very nice, supportive person, but then throws it back at you that you needed an afternoon off to fix your personal life at review time and will use it as a reason to not give you a decent raise or rating to help you move forward. "
