"There’s a ton of micromanaging depending on what team you’re on and it starts from the top and gets trickled down. If there’s someone micromanaging everyone at this level, that person’s role isn’t important at all. Their time is spent micromanaging adults when they could be focusing on strategy, how to drive efficiencies, how to drive the business, etc. What is the point of their role? A waste of space and air.
People are nice nice but don’t be fooled by your superiors because you’ll eventually learn what their true intentions are. My superiors always wanted to look good. That’s the only thing they care about. How they can further their career, blame others, and argue with people to make sure others are at fault and not themselves.
If you’re used to being a self starter, working independently but collaboratively with others, don’t work here. They want to hire someone who doesn’t need babysitting and doesn’t need to be told what to do, but that’s not true…What’s expected from you is not what they mean. Either way you’re going to be micromanaged, watched closely, and having constant status updates. This is by far the worst company I’ve ever worked at. I wasn’t able to be the owner of anything, but if you’re a recent college graduate, it might be a good place to start at but don’t stay forever.
People at Luxottica really know how to drag projects out. Even the simplest things that need to be actioned will require a 10 page powerpoint presentation and will take weeks to get started on the task. You also won’t have visibility in most conversations because they have a weird way of working and like to keep things secretive…This means no transparency, Also if you want to loop someone into a conversation, they’ll be removed even though they need to be kept in the loop…
You’re expected to work extremely long hours because everyone else does and it’s normalized. It’s difficult to take time away to go to a doctor’s appointment. I had to keep pushing off a surgery I needed the whole time I was at this company. "
