"Be prepared to be frustrated all the time in regards to comments made to you about your appearance by men, 'jokes' about sexual harassment, men asking you to do 'grunt' work completely outside of your job because you're a woman, complete lack of diversity programs, zero mention of LGBT, no celebration of their employees' diversity. "

"Interview your prospective supervisor carefully. That person will make the biggest difference in your work experience. The company in general has generous leave and work-life balance policies."

"The parent company has become more inflexible in recent months about clocking in & clocking out. The immediate supervisor can do much to mitigate the effects, but the company policies over all are inflexible and demand conformity."

"I see people prioritizing family events. In most cases management is very accommodating, but it also depends on the job. Hourly workers have it harder but can take small increments of personal time off to take care of appointments or get the flexibility they need."
