"The company has a lot of formal structures for integrity and inclusion, such as ERGs, but in reality there is no inclusion. This is the first job in my entire career where no one ever bothered to get to know me, or even have lunch with me. Any of the relationships I created were relationships where I was the one who took the initiative to cultivate. This translates into disrespect and dismissal of opinions and authority. In terms of processes and policies, it is at least 10 years behind industry. The tools I had to work with daily clearly hadn't been updated in 20 years. They think that a 9/80 schedule means they're ahead in flexibility, when they don't even allow you to flex out of the pay period. The PTO is awful, there is no sick time, everything is taken out of PTO, and you barely acure anything the first two years. If you're in a 9/80 schedule, you need to use PTO for 1 hour on every holiday. The bureaucracy is ridiculous, including for firing people. It took me almost a year to fire a direct report who was a clear threat to others, including myself, because HR moved absurdidly slow with their processes. I had more than one manager who over scrutinized my work, and not that of my male peers, and would only agree to my opinions after a male coworker had stated the same thing. I could go on and on forever... "

"Most teams only hire 1 woman to satisfy the quota. The women here are very competitive and will not make your job easier. When it' s time for layoffs, the women are the first to go. Work place culture is quite male oriented. I had people told me directly including other women that i don't read/write code even though i have been working at this company for 20 years + as a software engineer. Work is based on projects so you would have to re-apply and go to job interviews for each project. You may not get hired for the next project even though you are already an employee. Managers expect you to work around the clock with no extra pay 50+ hours a week. Raises are 1 to 2% only. I've been on the same level for 13 years without a promotion in sight. This happens to a lot of co-workers, i am not in the only one. Benefits and anything fun are taken away to remain cost-competitive. The only people that the company likes are college graduates. But once you've been there a few years, they'd like to get rid of you. "

Work-wise, the tasks and expectations were similar compared to my male colleagues, but I got tired of the lack of advancement and/or promotion, even after completing a higher degree. "I was there for 34+ years. My new boss kept telling me I was being transitioned into a new job. I made plans for my wedding, letting my boss know our agenda. She called me into an office a few days after I got back to work. She said I was laid off, with no chance of recall, and to pack my personal belongings and leave. Of course, I was escorted the entire way and was badly shamed. I'm sure they all thought I was fired. I found out later she did this to at least one other woman. I have never had any trouble in all my years there. I would have done things, especially my wedding. Differently if I knew."
