"The women that do work for the company are extremely intelligent and hardworking women, and since Gerry Smith became the CEO I do believe more women have come into executive positions. However I believe that the mother work life balance is lacking as the maternity leave is not supportive of a healthy mother/child bonding timeframe with paid leave."

"What a retail job will be like depends greatly on your specific store or manager. My store was alright, and my managers were good. I only had a few creepy coworkers. I did notice that I knew of several mid-level managers who were women, but I had never heard of any store managers who were women."

"The company is diverse, however, it is difficult to get promoted in this company once on the job. "

"OfficeMax had a very respectful, family-friendly and inclusive culture. Office Depot does not have the same reputation."
"There are very few women in IT but those that are there are in senior roles and are incredibly smart. Most director roles and VPS throughout the company are unfortunately men but the women are treated very fairly and compensated just as well as the men overall. I never felt that my gender got in the way of being promoted."
"Its a fair and diverse place but overall positive work culture is lacking."
"You'll probably be told to work the cash register while men do other work, but after that first assignment there is never any comparison between you another employee. Cashiers are probably treated better because they are more likely to sell insurance, and your numbers speak for themselves."
"They are fair to all races."
"Corporate is like a family and a team from CEO all the way down! Jobs are taken seriously however most try to make it a fun atmosphere even when it is stressful.I feel they are very fair in terms of pay and bonuses and the company is very supportive when family emergencies etc. come up."
"I've worked here for almost 3 years. There are women in lead and management roles in development. Management is male-dominated yet it seems that women are treated equally. It is just the nature of the business, there are more men in development than women. Salaries for women are lower, make sure to do your research and be upfront about what you want to make. Contractors make more than FTE."
"There are alot of women who work for this company but most of the upper level jobs are held by men. It is easier to get VP positions from the ourside not from within."
"More and more women are becoming managers in what was primarily a male role. This company supports that and recognizes us fairly."
