"They'll promise you a competitive wage, decent hours & certifications in a relatively good time frame but it doesn't happen. I've been in the kitchen almost a year & haven't been certified on anything besides DMO (& I'm consistently told I'm a great addition to the kitchen & how much they appreciate me). Raises take forever to get if you don't keep on them about it. "

"My kitchen manager is awesome but fairly new in the position. The GM comes from a corporate background not a restaurant background (he's no idea how hard being a line cook really is) so he doesn't understand the culture really. "

"A few RR are still very "boys' club" oriented so you'll need to stand your ground without seeming "bitchy". Don't allow sexist remarks &/or actions to just play out. Make sure someone in management knows what's going on & be sure to document if needed. "

"Just don't. I was threatened with termination because I was pregnant and could no longer safely do the job assigned even though I was trained in every other available job at the time. They say they offer 6 weeks maternity, after working there full time for 2 years I was granted 4 weeks. Sexual harrassment and theft is the only reason most people get fired. You will work next to addicts who are high during nearly every shift and workplace violence is tolerated and even rewarded. A customer can openly sexually harass and even assault you and the managers will not take action in any capacity. Your availability sheet that they have you fill out will be blatantly ignored and even a single refusal to come in or stay late will be met with open hostility and missed promotions and raises. You will almost never be released at your appointed time and will miss breaks and lunches with alarming regularity and if you compllain you will be met with open hostility."
