My particular office is 95% females. Management is 100% female within the office. Family balance and family life is very highly respected and valued by the managers.

Expect a boys club and chauvinistic attitudes nearly everywhere you go. Flexible working very difficult to get.

You'll be fine, I suppose. Just tread as lightly as you can with maternity-related requests.

Schedule flexibility varies significantly by the supervisor. Although the health insurance benefits are great, there is no employer contribution to short term disability insurance, currently no paid parental leave, and new non-birth parents may only take 5 days of their sick leave balances upon the birth or adoption of a child. You can take vacation but new hires get so few vacation days. For me, the job security and health insurance benefits were not enough to make up for the little paid leave and the poor compensation compared to the private sector.
