"The parental leave policy changed in 2017 and is much better! Under FMLA both mothers and fathers get twelve weeks off, and eight of those weeks are paid as "parental leave". The rest can be paid if you have accrued enough sick time/personal time/vacation time, etc. I was able to have the twelve weeks all paid, without draining my vacation, after working there about 3 years. "

"It depends on the department, but from my understanding, many supervisors are understanding about life changes (such as having children) and sudden changes (weather, child care, etc) that may make a day's commute difficult."
