"While I happen to work in a female dominated department, we are the exception rather than the norm. Each year, when you review compensation, you are able to see your pay, the lowest pay for your job class in your job level, the mid-point, and the high point. I have *never* reached the mid-point, after 8 years with the company and 100% glowing reviews, never been promoted (but jobs have been posted for external candidates) and I have actually hired people (both men) for the same exact level as me, for more money. I do think promotions are pretty equally distributed in my department by gender, but definitely not in some of the other departments (particularly in cybersecurity). There are many women in leadership roles (yay!) but I have noticed that those women tend to have huge tenure (20+ years) where the men in leadership roles do not (most being outside hires within the past 10 years). Workplace flexibility is *phenomenal* for working moms and very supportive so this is definitely a plus. Compared to other companies I've worked for, this company is better than most as a woman, but has a long way to go overall. "

"It's probably and ideal place for recent grads, new moms, and women who are a few years away from retirement, but if you're really trying to advance in your career, don't stay for too long."

"No one will think twice if you are taking off early for doctor's appointments, school activities, etc. Vacation is encouraged.
Just be sure to communicate your schedule and continue to deliver quality work products on time."

"For years, it was 2 weeks of parental leave. I was miserable when my kiddo was in the NICU for 2 weeks and technically I would have had to return to work the day after she got home. ( I had vacation saved up and was able to stay out another few weeks). They just changed the policy to 12 weeks. Finally showing they do support parents in the workplace."

"It is very easy to lose your edge here. Lackluster work is accepted and even superstars are lumped together during reviews/raises. MITRE is not a meritocracy."
