"I think that there is a lot of diversity here and you do not have to be afraid of feeling alone in a team. Supervisors are also generally willing to help you when you ask for it. Overall a positive culture."

"Good maternity leave for young faculty members and PhD students. Experiences vary widely across departments. Some departments are very supportive and welcoming to women while others are outright hostile. Overall, the university itself generally supports women. For example, you have the option to stop the tenure clock during maternity leave and there's a daycare available on-campus."

"My adviser here generally did a great job of giving credit when credit was due, with a few notable exceptions. As a PhD student a project I came up with and worked on was shifted to a male student without my input. They started meeting about the project without me and the male student ended up taking over the project and winning national awards for it. I had to fight to stay on the paper for publication. It was really weird and frustrating."

"The benefits are great. Working in Higher Education has its benefits if you enjoy working on an academic year schedule. The Governor of NY decides on what funding goes to the University. If there is a shortage of funding, it affects the University."
