What to say in cover letter
I am reapplying for a position I held 12 years ago, same company just merged with new one. I have since moved on to other jobs but I really loved this! Relocating back and would love to have a second chance. I might mention, I was going through cancer at that time it was “decided “ it was best that I part with the company. I understand it was probably not legal I was too tired to fight it. Since that time I’m healthy! And new ownership has proved to be much different. Help please?
Colleague with zero experience paid equally to me
My male colleague blurted out recently that he's looking forward to getting that $2,000 paycheck. I stared in shock as that's what I get and I've been in this industry (horticulture) for 19 years now. My colleague has 0 experience in this field. I have a 4 year college degree in English, a minor in Botany. He has a 4 year teaching degree, yet hasn't taught a single class due to a felony DUI several years ago. I did confront my boss regarding this wage issue. He said simply, "Well, you and Chris do the same job and I'm not going to pay him $2-$3 less." My response was, "I'm not asking you to do that.", thinking he'd get the idea that I deserve a large raise. When I started at this particular company 6 years ago, I had already 12 years in the Hort industry and my current boss even sold perennials to and dealt with my employer for 10 years. He knew me, knew I was a great employee and I worked for a good company, so I was shocked when I was overlooked and they hired a guy who had no work experience in this industry, but he did have a 4 year degree in Horticulture. Fair enough, however, I was hired as well, but paid $11 per hour while this guy, fresh out of grad school, (yes he did get a Master's) made $18 per hour. We did the same job then, so why now am I getting the run around from my boss? Why was it ok THEN to pay me so much less than my colleague for doing the SAME job and now it's not ok to pay my colleague so much less AND he has 0, I repeat 0, experience? My boss will not answer the above questions. He simply changes the subject. I have certifications I won't bother to list, as they're industry related and boring to the outsider, my male colleague has none of these certifications, I'm always on time, never call in sick, always respectful, get along with my colleagues, always take up overtime when offered, so I'm really quite perplexed here as to why I am getting screwed. Male vs female is all I can come up with in this scenario.
I had been discussing with HR on multiple occasions the issues that I had been having with my manager and he ended up being told by HR. I did weekly communications with my manager on all the issues, but they were never fixed by him. I was then abruptly fired and never had any performance issues. In fact, I was recognized by the executive staff for all my improvements.... is it retaliation? is there any possible recourse? BTW... I work in a right to work state.
Should I Disclose Pregnancy at 6 weeks due to health issues?
I am 6 weeks, 3 days pregnant, and high risk due to my age and multiple serious health issues for which I have approved intermittent FMLA for time out of office for illness and doctor appointments. Several months ago in August, my boss questioned my time out of the office even though it is FMLA approved and asked if I "could just take a longer 2-3 week medical leave to deal with my issues". Since that time my boss continues to make false accusations about my behavior and my performance to build a case for terminating me...I seriously think they want to get rid of me because I continue to sporadically miss work due to FMLA covered reasons and since they know they can't fire me for that they are now going after "behavior and performance issues." Due to my high risk pregnancy, I will now have even more time away from the office for doctor appointments, and will likely have to apply for more intermittent FMLA which won't go over well. My past 9 years of performance reviews at this company have been good (always meeting expectations), but to my surprise this past week my boss shared I am "not even meeting expectations", which is our lowest performance ranking and grounds for termination. Although I have asked, she cannot and will not provide me any dates of occurrences or detailed information about my supposed behavioral or performance issues, and is piling on a long list of new expectations to my role to seemingly break me. I have previously suffered from recurrent miscarriage (unknown to my employer). I feel paralyzed now by what is happening at work and am no longer sleeping or eating the last 2 weeks due to the stress I am now under. I am very worried, especially since it is still so early and such an important time while my fetus is forming. I have several appointments with my primary physician and a psychiatrist this week to see if someone can write me out on an extended medical leave due to work stress during this very important time. Has anyone had any success doing this in this type of situation? Thank you!

Any advice regarding age bias? There is a lot of information about diversity and inclusion but not about age discrimination. I'm actually looking for new opportunity and I have the theory that the reason I have been rejected is age. PS I have doctorate degree and over 20 years of experience.
