Women holding women back
This topic came up while researching a book I am writing. It contradicts what this site is all about, but I wonder if any of you are seeing this as a conflict in your environments still? I did a quick survey of 6 25-30-year-olds and they said 'yes' but couldn't give me examples from the workplace. (Oddly, they all referred to high school.)
I haven't witnessed sabotage because someone is a woman, but I've witnessed female managers sabotaging other employees, some of which happened to be women. I saw gaslighting, lack of transparency, combative and openly challenging behavior, and generally "not having someone's back". I experienced this recently myself, with my (female) VP of HR (!) and left the company.
I am not seeing this in my workplace. I am seeing women advocate for others and sponsorship from top female leaders in the company to help more junior female employees grow their career. Now, this is not to say that female employees do not disagree or have conflict, but I have not witnessed female employees sabotage each other or limit my female employees career growth opportunties.
