Stuck in the interview cycle
I have been furloughed for 7 months. I am interviewing like crazy, but then nothing... I just wanted to get this off my chest... I realize every job isn’t for me, but my gosh RESPOND, and close the circle... I don’t care if it’s a quick note to let me down... Just communicate.
Ugh. I have heard this so much, particularly now while so many are job searching. I've been doing HR and recruiting for 20 years and it's the worst I've ever seen in terms of response, but it's never been great. Everyone is busy we get it, but it doesn't take that much to just say thank you but.... I am actually floored when I do hear back from employers! You are not alone - try not to take it personally.
I can empathize! I've been looking for 8 months, and I have been appalled at the amount of ghosting and poor communications. It's so disheartening. This experience is definitely teaching me how NOT to treat people in the future, once I'm back working again. I hope you/all of us have better luck with jobs in the new year!
I hear you! My experience with job hunting a few years ago showed me exactly what I DON'T want to do to people I interview.
My belief is that if I have a phone interview &/or a face-to-face interview with someone, I owe it to them to keep them updated on their candidacy.
However, when other decision makers are in the mix & there's a lag due to their heavy work-load ... I may not be able to get back to candidates in as timely of a manner as they would like.

Agree. I have to work hard on not taking it personally too. Repeated rejection is tough. May I suggest that you be strategic about your applications? I could be wrong but are you applying to lots of jobs including ones that you are not interested in? I ask because I did that for a while, there, and realised it's because I was afraid, lots of "what if..." thoughts. Nowadays I stick to my 3 week per UI requirements and pick those that I really want.
What field are you in, if you don't mind my asking?
