Has interviewing changed radically in the last 5 years?
I don't mean technically, Zoom and WebEx and the like aren't difficult. I mean the norms of how you present yourself. I've been getting interviews for positions I seem to be qualified for, even 2nd and 3rd round interviews. These people know from my resume that I'm a returner, so it's not like it's a gotcha. But somehow, I haven't been able to cross the finish line. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts.
I was unemployed for 5 months and just secured a new role. I had a similar experience. People are saying the market is different now -- there is just so much movement and so many people going after these roles -- employers have many qualified candidates to choose from. Don't lose faith. I'm sure that each time, you're getting even better at connecting the dots to show them why you're a great fit for the job. Don't be afraid to let your personality through either. Yes, you can be prepared with your elevator pitch and answers to behavioral questions WHILE being uniquely you. That makes you memorable and will help you stand out. Best of luck!
Your job has not come yet. What’s meant for you will be for you. I was out of work one year and 5 months. I sent over 300 resumes out and had several interviews with zero follow up. I went for a CFO position in hospital and was told no I have a better health system role for you I started work 5 months later. The bottom line is I had a great connection with the person that interviewed me had to meet 4 others in the company that like me as well and that what it took. Be patient it will happen for you!
I have a similar issue. In the past, even just a few years ago, when I got an interview, I got the job about half the time. Now I'm getting interviews. I'm progressing through rounds of interviews and still not getting the job. And I can't seem to get any feedback

One thing we recommend at Path Forward is to become familiar with behavioral interview questions. These are more common now and require a story-like response. We offered a free webinar this summer called "Behavioral Interview Strategies for Returners" that might be helpful! https://www.pathforward.org/behavioral-interview-strategies-for-returners/
