Modern day work will rarely ever fulfill you.

If you buy into the advertising of that, it’s a scam . ~ Mo Gawdat / Google His take is life is for living. Work should enable that, not be the purpose of it. Thoughts?

Don't live to work but rather work to live.

As someone who coaches clients to land their dream job, I believe that your work can - and should - help fulfill your purpose for living. "Life is for living. Work should enable that..." indicates that we aren't living when we are at work. Because we spend approximately 1/3 of our lives at work, what a shame it would be to not live during that time. After all, the opposite of "living" is "dying" - and let's hope we aren't dead while at work.

Normally the "life is worth living" option seems to be two options (1) work a job you may not like and use that to fuel something outside of work - such as a hobby or volunteer work (2) have work you really like and put in effort to stay in the enjoyable work. Some have a variation on (1) above in the FIRE movement (Financial Independence / Retire Early). They work in a job they may not like and invest most of the money until enough money is built up to retire early. This option requires keeping serious control of spending.
