I am considering in switching career fields.

I have worked over 15 years in the accounting profession in different roles and haven't gotten any satisfaction in the those roles. I changed positions and now working for a marketing firm but still in a accounting role. I am finding the marketing field interesting and have looked into going back to school to get additional education in marketing to go into that profession. I am 50 years old with a MBA, is it too late to switch careers and to consider maybe pursuing a C-suite level role? TIA!

Learn the career path to get you where you want to go, be strategic and choose a company you love that encourages women in the C suite, like Ford motor company for example.

Nope...it's never too late. Go for it! I too was in accounting and moved into different fields late into my career (I am 49). Marketing was one of those fields, and it is very interesting especially focus group analytics. I am not sure what area of marketing you are interested in but customer analytics or some other types of marketing analytics at a C-suite level is an easy move from accounting. Data analysis, research, a sharp eye, and reporting skills are highly transferrable in marketing.

A C-Suite role won't be yours without some experience first. Get the additional education and move into a mid-high level management role, working your way up from there.

Never too late! (I'm not an expert on C-suite career moves, though I do coach corporate presence.) What I would do is get really strategic about what you want and how you want to get it. Pick your dream job and work backwards. Perhaps find a mentor - somebody who can help you with connections, etc. Talk to a few folks at different companies and ask for their advice, offering something in return. Good luck - 50 is young!
