Hello All!
My background is in real estate (Escrow Officer) and 4 years ago I transitioned to a remote Project Manager role in retail. I like the PM role but retail isn't the right fit for me. I want to move into cyber security as a PM or sales. I'm also open to other interesting roles where I can continually learn and grow in responsibility.
It would be good to start by getting industry standard certification. ISC2 offers free training and a free voucher for their Certified in Cybersecurity exam which is usually $199. https://www.isc2.org/landing/1mcc
We are so grateful that you were able to transition into a remote role.

Check out Atos for career options. They have an insane amount of educational opportunities and advanced Certification training provided free from their digital partners.
I am 100% remote with them and just completed my third professional Certification in my first 1.5 years there.
I was also selected for internal promotion to a bigger project and am excited at new areas to learn and work in since they are such a large company.
I am happy to talk more if you find anything on their page that interest you to consider applying for. https://jobs.atos.net/
If you want some exposure in the cybersecurity vertical and you're up for some training, Amazon offers free cloud security training. https://aws.amazon.com/training/learn-about/security/ Even thought you're not looking for a cybersecurity practitioner role, having exposure to that world through this training might be a great addition to your resume and your knowledge of this space in general.
Look in MeetUp or the like for local Cyber Security, and Women in Cyber Security groups. Those groups are great ways to network, and to find local people to ask questions of.
If you have tried to break into cybersecurity and haven't been able to yet, you should start applying for PM roles at tech companies, which will give you some tech experience which should make the jump into cybersecurity easier.
Good luck!
Thank you for the suggestions!!
The Amazon course sounds great and just what I am looking for.
I have been applying to tech PM roles but I'm not having luck there either. Even entry level positions require 1-3 years of industry knowledge and since my background is in retail its holding me back.
If you haven't already, try looking for PM roles at tech companies in the retail software space (e-commerce, inventory control, payment systems, retail staff scheduling) where your experience in retail should be a huge asset.
