Lateral Moves - Yea or Nae?

An interesting opportunity has presented itself recently. I was offered a new position as an application analyst for the software I currently support as an Informaticist. At my company, it has always been the culture that an analyst position was a promotion from an Informatics position. I nailed my interview and was offered a position within hours. When my recruiter reached out with my formal offer, I was informed that analyst position is actually paid a fair amount less, approx.. $5. I am awaiting to hear if my salary will be accepted as is, but am now hesitant and unsure of the move. I love my position now, and would excel in the analyst position, but am so torn as to what the right answer is for me. What are your thoughts on lateral moves? Is it worth moving over, or do I wait it out and work my way up?
