Is it me or is it that the job market is tougher these days?
And it'll keep getting tougher. The snapback from the last year is already happening. Big tech layoffs, funding draining from startups, salaries coming back down...
I’ve been in interviews since Sept 2021.
it’s heartening that I get the interviews, however no job offers :/
I agree with you since there’s a lot of jobs (according to all job articles) but also lots of candidates!
Yes! I had a long conversation with an experienced recruiter and what she said is that two things are happening that are making it harder on both sides: 1. Companies want the "perfect" candidate, with all requirements and wish list items checked off, but they have not built pay structures, cultures or professional advancement opportunities that employees want. 2. Employees want the "perfect" job and are now more than ever to say no or walk away.
The idea of a dream job or dream candidate has taken on mythic status.
Every week I hear someone getting their dream dream job only to be back here 6 months later shocked that it was that dream like at all.
So true! Dream jobs... mine is not to work for a living, but to work for fun.
