Is it worth it to apply to a company you don't know anyone at?
I found a job that really interests me and the company sounds amazing, but am afraid my application won't get through the ATS :(
Thanks for the jobscan tip.
Apply, and then find the HR person and/or Hiring Manager on LinkedIn and message them - tell them you applied and you're excited for the role. It can help get your application seen and stand out. :)
I always feel nervous about doing this so I don't come across as "annoying" and I have not always had the best experience when I reach out cold :(
Oh no! I'm sorry you haven't had some not-so-positive experiences from cold emails. Personally I've sent short messages on LinkedIn stating who I am, what job I applied for, and stating I'm excited for the opportunity and that's either been ignored or positively received. :\ I think a short message is not being annoying, and I've been surprised by how helpful people can be during COVID times. :)
Ok I will give it a shot! Thank you for your reply :)
I felt like I was having trouble getting through ATS systems and then I started using https://www.jobscan.co/ and I really feel like it’s helped. I’ve gotten multiple interviews since using it. There is a limited amount of scans with the free version or you can pay for the upgrade for unlimited.
I actually ended up doing this with this application so hopefully it actually worked! Glad it has been successful for you!
Good luck! ?
Great tip. I’ll check it out. Also Indeed offers a fee for service resume review. I presume that would help you get through ATS for indeed posted jobs.
Always apply.
Do your research - make sure your resume and cover letter match the job description - then apply.
