So that unicorn turned out to be a drunk pony in a party hat
I have noticed that several of the positions I applied for and rejected are now re-posted. Should I re-apply or reach out to the hiring manager?
Have you tried LinkedIn? Seek out a connection to that target company via your LinkedIn network or group. People are willing to help when you are asking for advice.
Yes I have.
Did you get any responses to your resume submissions? Just wondering if the Applicant Tracking System is filtering you out of the running so HR may not even know your applying. Make some tweeks to your resume, add in a few more key words from the job description that fit you. I’d say keep revising, keep reapplying til someone sees you!
I only got a 'thank you but no'. I remember on one many tasks listed within my resume matched the JD including the job title. If I tweek my resume any more I'll start finding dollar bills attached to it.
I meant, they have to interview a minimum of 3 qualified applicants from the pool. Believe me...I have learned that just because you have a large pool of applicants does not mean they all qualify.
Either way, these are the things that happen at my company, so I can’t speak for the one you applied to.
I do understand what you are saying but my point is of those 97 remaining all cannot be duds. Revisit the maybe before reposting the job. As a side note: the jobs I applied to were no more that two weeks old when they were closed then re-opened a week later.
This has happened to me by hiring managers. They have to hold and re-apply. There have also been instances where they were not enough applicants in the pool to move forward with reviewing since they must interview a minimum of 3 applicants so we have to reopen.
There were well over 3 applicants. In some cases close to 100.
It can't hurt to reapply. This has happened several times with several of my clients during Covid. We posted for them- then they decided to hold off- then they asked us to post again when they were ready. (If you have already spoken to someone, reach out to that person directly.)
I'll give it a try, thanks.
I have the same question! I'm never sure what it means to apply for something, be told multiple times by the recruiter they are interested but the jobs on the back burner, yet see the job posted again (by both the company directly and by various recruiting companies).
This gets me so aggravated! I tried to reapply a few times and still nothing. I have had some luck with contacting the company directly through their LinkedIn profiles though.
