Hi everyone, I'm a young professional (24) seeking advice on a career change.

I took my previous job in supply chain tech in June 2022 straight out of college because I wanted to move from home and the job advertised itself as an environment with upward opportunities. I was only moved horizontally in Oct . 2022 and it went downhill from there. Fast-forward a year later, I was laid off due to restructuring Oct 13. I'm realizing that I would be much more focused and excited with a career in law, and I am open to more schooling in the future, but I'm struggling to advertise myself for entry-level roles at firms in my city. I've sent out many apps, but I'm not sure what else I can do. I've sent an intro message explaining my change in career along with my resume for apps that have the option for addtl documents, but what else can I do? I'm open to all advice, I feel like I'm treading water in a really rough market.

Legal secretary/assistant/clerk positions are the most practical roles I'm applying for, as I don't have a JD or a paralegal certification. I'm hoping to get some professional experience before confirming what further education I want to (and can afford to) pursue.

Sorry that you're having a tough time but yes - this is a tough market to try to transition in. Have you reached out to staffing firms? Companies like Robert Half have a Legal division. It can be a great way to get your foot in the door. You may also have to consider a bridge position - something in a more general admin position, and then a transition into legal.
