Advice Needed:
I'm currently in the job market and found a job that would be a great fit for me and the company. I also found a Talent Acquisition person that works for the company via LinkedIn.
How do I go about making an informal introduction conveying my interest in the role and passing along my resume?
I'm finding that applying for a job isn't yielding results and not having an "in" (i.e. personal/professional reference), makes it a tad difficult to get your resume a glance and a potential opportunity for an interview.
I don't want to make the wrong impression but I would very much like to reach out to this individual.
What is the best way to go about this? I would very much like to not only apply for the role, but get my resume into the right hands.
Any advice/suggestions is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
I believe you should just go ahead and introduce yourself but in a way that your message grabs there attention as they already have a lot of message and Inmails to respond to...
Connect with the recruiter on LI. Introduce yourself, share the title of the role you've applied for. Ask to set up a time to review your qualitifications when they're ready to start reviewing candidates.
I would recommend reaching out to the recruiter after you have applied.
Include the fact that you have applied, the job title and Job ID number and your brief elevator pitch.
Please highlight the ways you match the position requirements - not softskills.
You can request that if they are not the recruiter working on that postion, any help pointing you in the right direction would be most appreciated. Ask if they need any additional information from you and say you look forward to connecting live.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
GOOD LUCK!!
OP here. I don't have a name for a recruiter, however, I did find a Talent Acquisition person via LinkedIn and wanted to reach out but not appear pushy. I was going to send him a brief message via LinkedIn in hopes of him being the right person and/or pointing me in the right direction.
Someone else mentioned not reaching out to a recruiter due to the potential of my resume getting tossed and to perhaps look for people that work there that might be willing to refer me.
I'm open to either. I'd just like a chance to get my resume in the right hands and an opportunity for an interview.
Since the recruiter is the person who will be seeing your resume in the ATS, I would recommend you reach out to them. Please make sure you've applied before you reach out.
i usually have good luck sending a simple message saying “wanted to call your attention to my application. It helps if you have mutual connections or ask a question.

This 100%. I am a recruiter and get literally dozens of messages on LinkedIn from job hunters for every role. You are better off looking for connections and asking for a referral. I don't have time to respond to every message I get, but our company offers a $5k referral bonus, which is pretty attractive to our employees. Employee referrals almost always get at least a screening unless they are way too unqualified.
Just as a side note, if you are going to reach out to a recruiter please make sure you are actually qualified for the role. 95% of the people who reach out to me don't meet the basic qualifications and are wasting my time and theirs.
