Good morning!
I am a MCS(Masters in Computer Science), MBA(International Business) a PMP and a SafePOPM. I was working for 3 years until 2003 and then I gave it all up to be a mom and then a caretaker for my inlaws who passed away in 2020. During this time did MBA , PMP and SAfe POPM, courses on Supply chain and tableau and also Uipath RPA and 2/3 month assignments here and there in Uipath RPA and Customer Service in Amazon (since I could do them from home).
Like every A+ grade student (which I have been all my life)I have been trying to get back to the workforce. Seems like I am spinning my wheels. My qualifications are where I want to go but what I have accomplished seems to show it differently. I am lost on what I should do next. Should I study some more or should I take up jobs that dont line up with my upskilling?
More education, without more corresponding experience, won't make you more marketable. And I would definitely coach you against taking a job that isn't in line with what you want.
Experience is what you need - so get creative as to how to get that experience. An unpaid internship, temporary work, volunteering - experience is experience, whether paid or not.
I would also be curious to see how you are presenting yourself via your resume and LI profile. Also, what does your job search look like? If you are limiting yourself to job boards, expect a very long haul.
Thank you, Lesa, for the pointers on where to look for experience to start with. Yes, my resume and linked in profile is what I am trying to fix. I appreciate your help !

thank you so much for letting me know what youve been through! All the very best to you and may you keep up the work!
Perhaps hiring a career coach could help pinpoint the disconnect and how to transition from an A+ student to a new professional ready to build her career.
While education is not weighted as heavily as it did 18 years ago (a lot has changed in the workplace) it should still get you started on building a career.
Thank you for the direction ..I really appreciate it!
You might want to get your experience more up to date with some contract work. 20 years is a long time and a whole lot of education doesn't really translate to current experience.
True.. Thank you so much for your perspective!
