Hey guys!
I was hoping to ask for a little feedback and maybe suggestions. I am in my last year of my Bachelor's in Business with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. I'm beginning the journey to work in medical claims appeals. I currently work as a medical billing customer service agent.
Does anyone have anything to offer in terms of good starting roles to lead me in that direction? How did the process go for you? Thank you for your time and feedback!
Entry level Consulting would be a good idea per suggestion posted here. Depends on what environment you’re looking for - hospital, outpatient medical practices, etc. My advice would be to start by looking at large organizations or hospitals, and start in billing. once you’re in, you have a better chance of moving around within the organization. Once you have experience in payers, billing and coding you could look into audit, privacy and compliance within the organization. Also Program managers or specialists at hospitals or insurance companies - UHC or BCBS, not sure where you’re located.
How about healthcare consulting?
That's something I hadn't considered. I will look more into that. Thank you!
I am not in the industry. But do you have any peers who could offer you some insight?
I don't actually. I was a home/auto insurance agent, so I know plenty of people in that field haha. I didn't think about it until you asked, but I don't know anyone in the Healthcare field actually.
