listen, I am going to be frank here. I am not young enough to have my time spent volunteering or intershiping. And I am not at all interested in the temp positions. Again, I am not that young where I have time for that sort of thing. I did an internship at an affiliated hospital with the college, and that did not do much for me with job placement. And I have volunteered with many organizations and they are on term bases, so I have expired my terms in most and honestly, not to eager to return. The free time I have, I use it to explore other options that I have not done when I have free time, it is my 'me time' now. So, I am done w/ volunteering at the moment. But thank you for your post . I am looking for a stable position. I need stability in my life right now.
Totally understandable and valid!
I can relate to your conundrum. I have experience in higher education administration, but I have skills that can also transfer easily to other fields outside of higher education. I have been attempting to break out of the "box" so to speak, but it can be frustrating. Also, assuming that administration means administrative assistant shows how limiting one title can be. My previous roles had supervisory and leadership components as well as organizational skills. My advice is to try some temporary positions or volunteer roles in different areas or see if you can apply for some fellowships or paid internships in different industries you are interested in. Build your network through meet-ups and volunteer roles as well.
I am not looking for keeping myself contained into a 'box'. I am administrator, my skills can go across the board in any field. Healthcare would be my first choice, but I am not going to limit myself to healthcare. I am not a 'box' person, that is why my post is open ended. I am seeking a position that is fulfilling and allow me to be 'me' and share my skill assets with a company that appreciates and needs someone to keep the office flow organized and work efficiently.
Do you have a question or are you looking for leads for jobs?
If you're looking for leads, it would be helpful if your request were clearer.
First, you are calling yourself an administrator, but from the responsibilities you list, you appear to be seeking an administrative assistant position. Is that correct?
It looks like your industry is healthcare.
Where do you want to work? In a doctor's office, clinic, hospital? Have you decided on a specific location (i.e., specific hospital), so that you are looking for contacts into that facility? What do you want?
