Please Help!
I am a recent college graduate and I'm having trouble finding a job. The loans have already started kicking in and I'm stressed. Anyone know of a company hiring recent grads?
Real quick about your loans...reach out to your servicing provider (NelNet, etc) and file for an income based deferment. You will need to provide either your 1040 from last year or a recent set of paystubs. This will need to be followed up with at some point for re-calibration once you do have a steadier income, but for now if you make below a minimum amount, you can opt to only pay the interest or pay the $0 payment because you are not earning enough.
It's helped me as my Adj. Gross Income for the last 6 years has been crazy low as I finished my BS and now am working on my MBA. I know that the interest rate is compounding, but at 4% or so, it's a lot better than credit cards...and when I can, I make an interest only payment.

Hi. I totally understand the stress of needing to find a job. The most effective way to find a job is to network directly with people who have the job that you want - especially those that graduated in the last 5-7 years. Use your college alumni network as well. Alumni love speaking with fellow grads. However, the more desperate you are to an employer, you may be less appealing so try to keep that to yourself. If you want to see some of the advice I provide to recent grads, you can connect with me on LinkedIn.
Check out this site: https://www.wayup.com/
It's a site geared toward college students and recent graduates seeking jobs and internships. In the meantime can you defer your student loans, put them in forbearance due to financial hardship, or request income based repayment (if you're not working and your previous tax returns demonstrate that, it should lower your rate)?
There are tons of companies hiring new grads, but the competition is fierce. What field/kind of job are you looking for?
Try reaching out to someone in your alumni network who works at either a company or in an industry you want to work in! You're more likely to get your resume looked at if you know someone who can forward it to the right person.
Hey there, can you be a little more specific with the type of career you'd like to pursue?
