What's the best way?
Hello! I'm new to FGB. I recently moved to another state with no job. I thought I would wing it, apply and hope for the best. Now that I'm here, I feel like I'm losing sight in what will challenge me, what my goals are, and where I would like to end up. Is taking a job that has nothing to do with your career path better (resume wise) than finding side jobs to make ends meet?
I studied Public Health, but I also don't know where to begin. I worked for the State at my last job as a Public Health Specialist, but saw no potential to rise or continue to learn. Is uncredited research, unpaid internship/volunteering the way to go when gaining experience in this particular field?
Hey Maggie,
Checking in! Did you end up finding a job? Thanks so much for sharing.
Also, if you haven't already, I’d love to invite you to our new professional profile (which is different from your current community profile) and quick apply feature –– which gives you closer access to recruiters who are actively looking to hire more women.
These features helps you avoid the job application black hole by receiving updates on your application status in real-time and the option to message the company directly after submitting your profile (link below).

Please let me know if you have any questions, best of luck with your search and please keep us posted!
A couple things: You mentioned earning money to make ends meet... If you need to do this then do it! It doesn't matter the field, your peace of mind should be top priority. If you do this, try to ALSO so something aligned with your ideal career/job. For example, get a certification, take a course on Udemy or LinkedIn, or do an internship. Regarding your career path - It sounds like you need to revisit what makes you happy/inspired/motivated and make sure your goals are aligned with that. No matter how far you advance in a career, if you're not happy then it isn't worth it. Best wishes!
