Ugh I sent the wrong resume
I just spent hours working on a job application and once I hit submit, I realized that the file was the wrong version and had extraneous material at the bottom. The website (taleo) doesn't allow for edits so I just screwed myself. No question, just frustrated by how much power an online form can wield.
I've also done this before but somehow got a follow up call. It's amazing how often hiring managers don't actually read through your whole resume, even if it's just a page.
I’ve made errors like this, too.
Most automated systems allow you to delete the submitted CV and upload a different one.
The second option is to submit a new application, which might require you to create a new email address.
I wouldn’t worry whether someone will look askance at your two applications as the initial review is likely computerized, and because there is likely a significant pile of resumes being
reviewed.
Try this process. The employer you're working with may have a slightly different customized version of Taleo, but this has worked for me.
-log in to Taleo
-click on My Job Page tab
-click on View Submissions
-click on the job you need to update under Completed Submissions
-click on Review and Submit tab
-click on Attachments Edit
-click on Upload New
-after successful upload, click on Delete to the right of the unwanted resume
-be sure to mark "Relevant File" and "Resume" on the newly uploaded resume
Good Luck!
I tried but to no avail. It's a huge (10,000+) company so I'm digging around for an HR contact to throw a hail mary resume at.
Sorry to hear that. Was there a specific step in the process that didn't work so I can try again on my side?
Oh yes, I was able to see my application but there was no option to edit it. The “review and submit” tab was not present. It was a text version of my application with the company’s header. Thanks for your advice. I deeply wish I could update it.
Oh boy I've done this before too. I just re-did my whole application process and re-sent it and prayed they didn't think I was a moron LOL. I don't think I even got an interview.
Ugh I've done this before. It's the worst feeling!! There's always the option to try and reach out directly to someone at the company and share your resume directly with them but that's not always easy.
