Seeking Project/Product Management position in DC/Northern VA area
Hello ladies!
I'm looking for a new project management position! I have all of the necessary skills for project/product management, however I only have less than 1 year of experience. I would like to leave my current company as soon as possible, it is just not working out for personal reasons. Does anyone have an tips or advice in this field? Would anyone be willing to take a look at my resume?
Hope you all have a great day!
I'm happy to take a look at your resume. I have been in the Product world for many years (mostly in the digital and SaaS space). let me know how you want to get me your resume. You are also welcome to connect with me on LinkedIn if you want to increase your linked connections.
As for advice -- in no particular order of importance -- here are some hopefully helpful hints:
Pick a lane: Project and Product Management are generally different jobs and different skills sets. If you have done or are now doing both (which can be common in some companies), define what you want to do in the future and focus on that position (or create different resumes for both of those jobs in case you are applying to both of those types of jobs because you need a new job)
Get and Stay Educated: If your current job offers educational opportunities, take advantage of them. If taking formal for-fee education is out of the question for you (due to financial or timing issues), then go to free seminars/webinars.
Start to Network. Attend evening networking events and product-focused meetups, ask questions and connect with the people you meet on LinkedIn.
Look at Startups for Job Opportunities: Startups can be a great way to build skills quickly and to move up the seniority ladder. Looking for jobs on Fairygodboss, angel.co and builtin.com are great websites to find a startup position.
Thanks for your help bg_hansen! Sara Marie, if you both are connected on Fairygodboss, you can message each other for more information as well.
My former company is hiring-D.C. Tech-Startup space that you might find interesting. I'm not really in that space, so I'm not sure how helpful I'd be looking at your resume! https://www.quorum.us/about/careers/
