Resume Help Question
Hi FGB'ers! I am in need of assistance with revamping my resume.
Currently the document is science/laboratory dominated and as an MBA candidate, I need to make changes so I can pivot in my career path. I've reached out to a few resume writing services but they are seemingly expensive.
Does anyone have any resources on here, professionals that you've worked with etc?
Between full-time work life and school, I'm finding it difficult to find balance with everything involved and could use some help. I've reached out to my universities career services and I'm awaiting a reply. Any help that anyone can offer is really appreciated.

When seeking assistance with your resume, look for quality over price.
Your resume is an investment in your future. The best resumes can save you time and energy during your job search. (But you also have to know how to find a job. Most people spend the majority of time applying online, which is one of the worst strategies for finding work.)
Think of it this way. Say your expected income is $750 per week. The cost of your resume is $750. You get a job one week sooner than you would have with a lower quality resume. That means you earned an extra $750--enough to cover the cost of the resume.
Now, say that a top-quality resume saves you a month over a lesser resume. You have the opportunity to earn $750 x 4 weeks that you would not with a lesser-quality resume. That means an extra $3000 to you minus the $750 for the cost of the resume or $2250 that you wouldn't otherwise have.
Next, add in the possibility that because of a quality resume and a little job-search training, your income is not $750 per week but $900 per week. That's an additional $7800 a year.
So when you seek to have your resume prepared by a professional, find the money to pay for it rather than skimping. Because you are likely to come out ahead financially in the long-term.

I've found that the New York Public Library's Career and Resilience Coaching (https://www.nypl.org/node/571889) has been extremely helpful. You can schedule a time to have one of their coaches review your resume for free. My advice would be to go into the session with a clear agenda of what you want to accomplish. They also have a lot of webinars and resources specifically for folks making a pivot in their career. Best of luck!

Unfortunately, aligning resumes to specific job titles is only moderately helpful. Maybe not even that. Because guess what happens if you create a resume based on a general idea for a job title? Your resume looks just like everyone else's. You fit in rather than standing out. That is not something that you want to do.
You want to align the resume to the job description and the needs of the employer. These needs can only be determined by researching the employer, including having informational interviews.
