I have a question about sending a thank-you after an interview.
Ive been in contact with a recruiter and a hiring manager for a company. I interviewed today. I was supposed to interview with the hiring manager, but we could never collaborate on a time. As such, she had her peer to interview me. At the end of the interview, she said that she would share her feedback with the recruiter and hiring manager and that I should hear something soon. When I’m sending the thank you, should I CC the recruiter and hiring manager in it? Just the hiring manager? Or neither? I start off by saying thank you for working with the hiring manager and taking the time to interview me. Since I mention that, it seems like it would make sense to at least CC the hiring manager, but I’m not sure. Also, the hiring manager’s info was also on the zoom call as if she maybe was logged in in order to get a recording.
Both.
You would get a notification if someone is recording the zoom session. But they should of course get your permission beforehand. There is nothing wrong with a peer doing the interview. If I'm in your position, I would just send my thanks to that person and follow up on the next steps which could be another interview with the hiring manager. :)
I'm concerned that the hiring manager's info was logged in. This seems a red flag. If they recorded and didn't ask your permission/notify you, that is not ok. It's possible the manager was lurking (assuming camera off?) which is also not OK.
Go ahead with your thank yous, and I would cc the hiring manager.
Prior to accepting any offer insist on meeting the hiring manager to further assess if this is a fit.
I would send it to the person who interviewed you and cc the hiring manager and the recruiter.
You want the hiring manager to know you're sending it - they're the one who's going to be making the decision.
Thank you!! I only ended up CCing the hiring manager and not the recruiter. Hopefully that’s okay.
I wouldn't worry about it- they're the two most important.
I don't think you can go wrong either way, but I'm curious what you would say in a note to the hiring manager. Personally, I would send it to the person I spoke to so it could be more personalized.
