Any suggestions on breaking into the proofreading field?
I'm a beginner, but I'm competent. Any ideas are welcome!
You can also register to Fiverr, a site where individuals can make money doing tasks for others. Also, online tutoring sites (like WyzAnt the one I've been with for 10 years) often have students who need proofreading help.
All the best!
Thank you! I'm a big fan of Fiverr. I've contracted people to do various things for me over the last 2-3 years.
This may be out of left field, but I honed some of my writing skills by volunteering for a charity writing proposals to foundations requesting donations. It was a worthwhile cause, and I could put it on my resume.
Just a reminder, but please make sure your inquiry letters and vita are perfect! Recently, I was hiring for an executive editor position and I was absolutely astonished at the responses that contained significant errors... not just style preferences.
Thank you! I've seen the same thing in applicants where I've worked.
I would google, proofreading jobs online, a lot of options from part time to full time came up. You can contact your local barnes and noble, as they know local authors in the area that might be able to help.
I live far from anything like a Barnes and Noble, but I know what you're talking about. Local writing groups would be a good place to look. Thanks!
Goodlord, yes please I feel like I get no where when I apply because I didn't know several places to intern outside of the university offers and it has come back to bite me for it.
