Getting into D&I
Hi All! I have just started learning about Diversity & Inclusion positions (I didn't know these were a thing!), and I'm very interested. It looks like a lot of companies are starting to add these types of positions as well. I have a Sociology/Anth degree and a background in admin, education, and event coordination. Does anyone have advice on the best way to get my foot in the door without an HR degree?
I agree! I also have an anthro background. I ended up taking an administrative role, helping to support our D&I department and then took on additional HR projects over the years. You might consider looking at many types of HR jobs to help get your foot in the door at the right company or to build your HR experience too.
Thanks Sara! I am applying to HR jobs, but many want someone with experience, even for coordinator roles. Any tips? I've added everything remotely HR I've done as an admin to my resume. Anything else?
Thank you both so much!!
Your background is perfect for moving toward HR! I agree with Cinzia. Take a few HR courses. Maybe look for a certification that would help with beefing up your resume. Good luck!
Hi Amanda!
I would start with online training and adding them to your profile and resume.
I know Coursera has a few courses that seems interesting.
