Seeking Fresh Perspectives on Career Search
Eight years ago I voluntarily left a successful corporate career of 18 years to spend time with my children and vet a business idea that I ultimately decided against pursuing. I have been trying to re-enter the workforce for about 2 years. I've revamped the resume, volunteered pre-pandemic, attended webinars, networked with colleagues and career coaches, submitted countless applications to really interesting roles and companies, and it's all been to no avail. I believe the key barriers have been the family gap on the resume, ageism and employing an ineffective primary search strategy of online job board applications. While I would love to hire a career coach to get an ironclad approach going, this is a limited option due to the financial burden this extended search is creating. I am becoming discouraged and would really benefit from an injection of new ideas and perspectives. Thanks!

Hi Anonymous - Perhaps signing up with an Agency for temp work assignments in your field is a good way to ease back into the workforce, and also help you regain your morale and confidence. Stay Encouraged :)
Thanks Bev! The kinds words are truly appreciated and I will look into agencies in my area.
Couple of ideas: I'm wondering if the new Job Seeker Group will be useful to you vicariously - you can see what works/doesn't work for them and adapt to your situation.
