Hi Community!
I am curious if there is a way to figure out why my resume is not getting me any interviews? I am applying for roles that I know I am qualified for and have extensive experience performing. I believe I am making it past the ATS and a recruiter is reviewing my resume, based on the lag time between submitting and getting the "thanks, but no thanks" email. I am also using internal contacts within the firm to help get my resume looked at. I am feeling frustrated, knowing if I could engage and talk to someone, I could sell myself for a role that I am qualified for. (The roles I am looking at are senior Product Manager roles.)
Any additional advice is appreciated. Thank you! Andrea
The same thing is happening to me. I even hired someone to rewrite my resume to be more ATS friendly. I tailor my resume for each job I apply for. Still, nothing.
It’s not you, it’s this horrible job market. In all my years of working I’ve never experienced anything like this. Not even in 2008. Not even during the pandemic. I have 10+ years in my field and a Master’s degree and I’ve been unemployed for 8 months with no end in sight.
Not trying to scare you but this may be the new normal. It’s a numbers game at this point. Keep applying and hopefully something will land. Please know you’re not alone!
Thank you! Its nice to know its not only me. Best of luck you as well!
The job market is extremely competitive at the moment. I have over 15 years of experience in my field and constantly get rejections with no interviews. It is frustrating and disheartening. Like another commenter said, check out resume services, tailor your resume to the role and use the same keywords they are using. Good luck!
thank you! Good luck to you as well.
Two things might want to use resume service like top resume. Secondly make sure you quantify achievements where you can . For example grew sales year over year. Grew sales year over year by 50%
thank you!
I'd be happy to give it a quick look to see if anything jumps out! Let me know.
Thank you for the generous offer. Let me know the best way to share with you.
Hello Andrea: Not sure if you graduated from college. If you did, I would suggest having them take a look at your resume (My school continues to offer resume reviews after graduation. My guess is that others would as well). That would give you another perspective on the resume. Next, I would run your resume through an Free online ATS screen to see how it stacks up. These steps would give you two additional perspectives on your resume. Note that you want to limit formatting on your resume since the scan into ATS has problems with some forms of formatting. https://www.linkedin.com/advice/3/what-most-common-ats-resume-formatting-issues-how-can-utzbc#:~:text=The%20most%20common%20ATS%20resume%20formatting%20issues%20include%20using%20complex,clear%20headings%20and%20bullet%20points. Hope this helps.
Thanks!
