Pitching a Job that Doesn't Exist Yet
Hi, I had a socially distance meet up with a former co-worker and friend. In our discussion I discovered that her new agency uses Salesforce, but doesn't have a dedicated Salesforce Administrator. I am a Salesforce Administrator, and I am looking for a job change. I reached out to my friend to ask if she thought her agency would be open to a pitch of the benefits of hiring a dedicated Salesforce Admin.
Has anyone ever done anything like this? Any advice on how to approach this?
Thanks.
Thank you everyone! I submitted a letter/proposal detailing the benefits of hiring a Salesforce Administrator, the added benefits I bring to the role, and a 90 day plan. So far, they haven't said no, but haven't really moved forward yet. But I think there is still hope.
I think this shows incredible initiative, and you have nothing to lose, but so much to gain, even just going through the exercise. Good luck!
Hi - Work up a case study on how a Salesforce Admin can address their pain points and benefit them.
Complete some research on the advantages your position will contribute toward gaining them benefits over the competition, ability to make timely decisions to internal stakeholders (use examples from your work beyond what is detailed on your resume) and addressing challenges. Consider some slides, graphics analysis specific to their co. but don't take too a GREAT deal of time, maybe 2-4 hrs .
Hope this helps & the best on positive results.
Agreed! I've successfully pitched a position that didn't exist. I collaborated with a former colleague that I trust to conduct market research and formulate a strong business case. Once the case was completed I ran through the presentation with a couple of leaders in the industry to make sure my plan was comprehensive and solved a need for my company.
