I just attended the FGB Virtual Career Fair. What I noticed was some high-caliber companies, ability to chat and meet with a Recuriter. However, because of my own research and self-development, I realized that none of the companies or positions were a fit for me. I am a recent Ed.D. graduate in Instructional Technology and Distance Education. My dissertation was on the utilization of telemedicine and I wanted my next job to relate. I have applied to everything from technical writer, project manager, telehealth specialist, instructional designer to director of education abroad with very little to show for it. I am either over educated or under skilled. I have used a professional career coach, Linked-in resources. My friend and my new career coach suggested this site. What has been most helpful is in the responses to my posts. Although I am still interested in telehealth, I am not quite there. The responses has spurred my own research in start-ups and starting my own business and am realizing now after 6 months what really excites me. I still love technology but my focus has shifted . I fell in love with writing and research when I was going through my dissertation and that is the dream I am following. At some point, I will incorporate technology and telehealth. But for now I need to follow my heart. Thank you for giving the avenue to explore this.
