Career Shift Out of HR
I have worked in HR for the past 6 years working primarily with onboarding, employee compliance issues and doing some project work. I also manage the tuition assistance program for my employer. I also have a bachelors in international relations and I am currently getting a masters in international business.
I am trying to zero in on the types of roles I would be able to apply for after getting my masters. I realize a big shift would be difficult so I am trying to think of the best way to blend my educational and professional experiences. I am particularly interested in strategy and global business.
Any advice on how to make this transition,or areas I should explore would be appreciated.
Thank you.
What a rock star you are. Congrats on getting your masters and keeping your goals in sight. My question to you is - What do YOU want to do? The question isn't what roles to apply for, but what elements of the work interest you and are attuned to your talents? That's what you should go for. Build mentoring relationships, get an advisor and establish a web of contacts in the space of work you WANT to be in, not what others tell you you are suited for.
Thank you for the kind words. I have an idea of the skills I would like to use and the tasks I would like a potential position to have . I am still trying to figure out how to apply these to a position I could realistically obtain.
