I often get asked about whether you should broach the subject of compensation in an interview - here are some good ideas around this.

The short answer is yes - wait til when if they haven't asked your salary expectations. Remember you can negotiate especially if you are still employed and aren't feeling pressured. I encourage our employers to post a salary range on their job postings as well so that applicants and employers aren't wasting time

Yes! It's such a waste of time if your visions are so far from aligned. Is there specific language you recommend using when broaching this topic?

I appreciate this! I recently applied for a position that had “Director” in the title, and when interviewed they asked my desired salary. When I told them they said they were looking to pay more like $20/hr! That, in my mind, is far from a directorial salary and it wasted time for us both.
