Out of ideas

I have been doing administrative work since I left college in 2005. At school, I was not one of those students who knew what they wanted to be or what they wanted to do once they left school, so admin seemed like a safe option. Fast forward to 2020, I have been out of work since March this year. I am running out of ideas as to which organisations/companies I can apply to. I have looked on Glassdoor and the reviews are enough to put you off working companies like SpaceNK, the V&A Museum (and other art galleries/museums in London), the RSPCA, John Lewis to name a few. While I understand that there is no perfect organisation, it doesn't inspire confidence, particularly, if there is a culture of bullying in the organisation and people have had to leave their job as a result. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I could apply to for work (ideally but not necessarily admin) I would greatly appreciate it.

Glassdoor and other sites are helpful, but remember that people who are happy rarely comment. The vast majority of commenters are usually people who are dissatisfied in some way or feel wronged. These negative reviews may stem from a single department or poor manager. I wouldn't let negative reviews dissuade me from applying. Your situation could end up being completely different.

Hi! Have you thought of working for yourself? Many companies need admin assistance (from time to time) that you could work on your own schedule. Check job boards for part-time, gig work, WFH options. Perhaps there's a real estate person that needs an assistant, or a dentist or doctor that needs someone to do billing. Don't give up. 1 degree of change of viewpoint is all you need to envision something totally new. Talk to some of your friends and former colleagues to determine what you're best at and see if it tells you more about yourself than you realise. Wish I knew people in the UK that could guide you better... Good luck!
