I am looking to get out of teaching.
As an elementary teacher for almost 30 years, I have tons of skills and experience. Unfortunately, I don't fit most job postings outside of education.
Hi Laurie,
Check out the website workmonger.com - they list jobs in education that are non-teaching. If you need any assistance with your career pivot, I'm happy to help.
Teachers have tons of skills! Many of these are transferable; the key is to get others to see that. I found this list helpful for describing transferable skills: https://connect.mla.hcommons.org/files/2016/04/Transferable-Skills-for-humanities-PhDs.2.pdf. Good luck! I am also looking to leave teaching.
Hi Laurie,
Have you thought of any kind of software you use? Companies hire experienced users for project managment for installations. Your teaching experience would make you very valuable along with you user knowledge.
Have you thought about looking at paths that focus on your content area?
I don't know if you specifically have one when I looked into education as my degree for K-8 we had to have a content area in case we taught middle school. It could be a place to start.
How about training? Learning and development?
