Hi everyone,
I am so glad this group exist! My name is Shontel. I am a licensed clinical social worker looking to transition out of the direct services field. Interested in transitioning into something more corporate. I am currently the Director of Mental Health so I do have managerial experience. Also work as a therapist seeing patients individually. I know these skills are definitely transferable , just having issues figuring out which direction to go. Has anyone else transitioned out of this field or even something similar? Any advice would be helpful!!
Hi Shontel! I transitioned (LCSW for 22 years) to be an Executive Coach and an Organizational Consultant- I never looked back! Please reach out if you would like to chat. Best of luck!
I transitioned out of the mental health field and took the UX design/research route. Before switching, I talked with individuals in industries that valued things like empathy, interpersonal skills, creative problem solving and leadership. I also took some Udemy and LinkedIn courses to explore other industries with overlap in the mental health field before deciding on a direction.
Best of luck!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Do you have any recommendations for Udemy courses? Thanks again for your advice.
You could look at performance or development coaching. Many companies are looking at creating or enhancing their internal coaching practices.
Thank you! That’s a good idea. I have been interested in development. Will do some research!
