Hi Ladies!
I'm Natasha and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm a forensic accountant and auditor in the MedTech industry turned tech enthusiast, leveraging my 20+ years expertise to transition into the tech world. My skills are very transferable especially to cybersecurity and I'm seeking ways to network with other women in tech and/or transitioning to tech. Let's connect.
Welcome, Natasha! Years ago when I first heard about Forensic Accountants, I thought they must have the most exciting job, with every project being a fascinating story. I even went through a short time of wanting a career as one, only to discover that there wasn't much of a job market for many positions years ago.
Yes, it is a fascinating job. It's like you are a detective solving a crime or potential crime but from a financial perspective. It's a highly specialized field and not always publicized. It usually comes into need through financial audits. That's how I got into it. I was an auditor and had to do investigations hence my forensic accounting career began. I loved my job but as things change so much we if we and our skills are to remain relevant. So, I'm slowly transitioning into the cybersecurity world where I'm sure those forensic and investigative skills will come into play. But I do have stories from my work from across the globe. I couldn't invent some of the stuff I experienced. I onced joked that I let go of my dream of working for the FBI because the job was too dangerous but in reality I ended up with even a more dangerous job than working for the FBI because I was doing almost the same kind of work but didn't have the US government backing me...I had Corporate meaning no backup! That job got progressively more dangerous than working for the FBI so I decided it was time for a change after a decade. But I loved that job.
That's amazing! I appreciated your description!
